If you’re new to this blog–we’re beginning a 40 day adventure in believing God today. We invite you to join us. Check out this post for more information.
Our 40 days of believing God are best summarized in the first two verses of Romans 12:
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:1-2, The Message)
There’s nothing in this world that encourages you to believe God. This world system is based on our five senses–what we see and hear and smell and taste and touch. As the old saying goes, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
God’s kingdom is just the opposite. It’s based on faith. We gain access to the supernatural life by believing God and His promises. God’s way is: “I’ll believe it so I will see it.”
Because we’re so immersed in the world, we often think and act like the world. It’s most noticeable when our circumstances are unfavorable. We easily become worried, anxious or afraid.
It’s not possible to simply stop feeling negative emotions. We first need to change our thoughts. The Message says it like this: fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.
Fix your attention on God. In other words, BELIEVE HIM. Then you will be transformed. Your emotions will change. Your attitude will change. Your priorities will change. The entire course of your life will change.
Will you believe God? Will you fix your attention on Him? Will you commit to do it for 40 days?
Ask a friend to join you. Encourage each other on a daily basis. Let me suggest you send each other a daily email to share what you’re believing God for, what verses you’re reading, how you’re praying for your friend and what you see God doing or teaching you.
I would love to also hear what God does in your life. Please email me your story at: greggstutts@yahoo.com.
