You go to some people you trust and ask for advice. They’re all in agreement on what you should do. Then someone suggests you check things out with one other person. You hate hearing that because that other person never has anything good to say concerning you.
Sure enough, that person contradicts what all the others said. Now what do you do?
Let’s say you proceed with plan “A” according to what all the others said, but it backfires. It really goes badly. In fact, it couldn’t have gone any worse. Total failure.
Now what if you found out the people you initially consulted were lying? Not only that, they were lying because they’d been made to lie.
How would you feel? Angry? Betrayed? You’d want to know who set you up, right?
What if it was God? Would you still be angry? Still feel betrayed?
It happened just like that to King Ahab. You can read about it in 1 Kings 22.
It’s a good reminder that we’re not the lead in the play. We’re not directing either. The story isn’t about us at all. It’s God’s story from beginning to end. He’s the Director. He’s the Lead.
