Family Reflections From Albuquerque

I meant to post this last night, but…just forgot to hit “publish”, so here it is the next morning…

It’s almost 9:30 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time in Albuquerque, New Mexico. What a beautiful city, at least the little I’ve seen of it. The view of the mountain from our hotel room was awesome. I love being able to drive almost 800 miles (Fayetteville, AR to Albuquerque, NM) in 12 1/2 hours and see so many different landscapes. It was a great day.

I loved being with my wife and children today even though two of my kids weren’t with us. We’ll see one of them tomorrow night and the other on Friday, her 17th birthday.

I love it when we’re all together in a hotel room. I love taking everyone out to eat. I love long drives together. I don’t even want to think about these times coming to an end.

I used to look forward to my parents coming to visit us in Little Rock. They were either coming from New Jersey or later, North Carolina. They’ve both passed away and now I’m the parent coming to visit my adult daughter and her husband. I haven’t seen her since January. And yet I feel closer to her than I ever have.

I’m so proud of each of my children and very, very grateful to God for how He blessed me with them.

Just a few thoughts at the end of a long day. Another long one tomorrow as we press on to California…
