I continually surprise myself at how quickly and easily I forget God’s way of doing things. It hit me again after church today–what I want isn’t what God wants. We have different goals. At least when it comes to faith.
He wants my faith to grow stronger. He wants me to believe Him. Not what I see. Not what I feel. But I really don’t want to have to believe. I don’t want to need stronger faith. I want to see. I want to know how everything is going to work out.
Actually, I don’t even want to see how it’s going to work out–I want it to already be worked out. I don’t want things to be uncertain or unsure or uncomfortable.
Yet God is pleased by faith (Hebrews 11:6), so it makes sense that He would allow or orchestrate circumstances so I could choose to believe Him. Over and over. Everyday. For the rest of my life.
He wants me to believe Him. When I do, He is pleased. And isn’t that what my life, and yours, is all about–pleasing God?
May we believe Him.
