According to a study by Australians astronomers…there are a lot of stars. About 70,000 million million million. That’s 7 followed by 22 zeros or 70 sextillion.
I can’t even comprehend that number, so here’s another way to think about it…70 sextillion is about 10 times more grains of sand than there are on the whole planet. Grains of sand…on the whole planet. Think about it.
It gets crazier though. The universe is so big that light from far away (really far away) stars has not reached us yet. The 70 sextillion stars are just the ones we know about it. Could there be as many stars we don’t know about as we do?
Now get this…
“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” Psalm 147:4
“…all things were created by Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16
“He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.” John 1:10
“He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” Isaiah 53:2
So what’s the point?
We’re never going to figure God out or reduce Him to a formula so we can feel better about managing life, so we might as well just choose to believe Him.
