Do you believe God is head over heels in love with you? Do you believe He’s crazy about you? Obsessed even. That He can’t stop thinking about you? Do you believe He rejoices over you? Do you believe you’re totally pleasing to Him?
Or do you believe He loves you with just a slight bit of reluctance? That He’s sometimes disappointed in you? To be quite honest, that you make it just a little difficult for Him to love you completely, the way He’d really like to?
I think it’s easy to say we believe the “head over heels” kind of love, but we really don’t feel that way, do we? Intellectually, we know God’s love is unconditional, but let’s be honest–we often feel like we’re letting God down.
I won’t speak for you, but the problem for me is knowing my own heart. The me that no one else sees. That me doesn’t seem so lovable. That me is selfish and prideful. It’s the me I don’t want you to see, so you’ll like me and even love me.
The Good News? God sees my heart and loves me anyway. Wildly. Unconditionally. The head over heels kind.
He loves you that way, too, whether you feel it or not.
