At The Church at Arkansas, we’re kicking off 40-days of seeking God. Want to join us?
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” (John 3:1-3)
Nicodemus saw Jesus doing things that only God could do. So he “came to Jesus.” He sought Him out.
His reward for seeking Jesus was receiving the truth. Nicodemus learned that he needed to be born again. He’d been born physically, but now he needed to experience spiritual birth. Without spiritual birth, he would not see the kingdom of God.
There’s always a reward for seeking God. Hebrews 11:6 says:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
God will reward you when you seek Him. He promised it. But why does God make such a big deal of seeking Him? Why God doesn’t make things more obvious? Why doesn’t He reveal Himself more clearly?
It often feels like we’re stumbling in the dark trying to find His will. Sometimes it even feels like He might even be hiding Himself. Why doesn’t He just come out and tell us what He wants us to do?
Could it be that He is someone who enjoys being sought?
Maybe He doesn’t spell things out more clearly, because we’d stop seeking Him if He did.
What might God want to do in your life? What reward awaits you if only you will seek Him?
Would you be willing to commit to a 40-day period of seeking God? God will reward you if you do.
