After David defeated Goliath, he becomes successful at whatever Saul sends him to do. So successful that Saul gives him a high rank in the army. “This pleased all the people, and Saul’s officers as well.” Of course, Saul became jealous of David’s tremendous success.
“Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had left Saul.”
“In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.”
“…David met with more success than the rest of Saul’s officers, and his name became well known.”
David didn’t go from the battle with Goliath to the military academy. He didn’t train under the greatest military minds. He didn’t learn to lead by getting an MBA. “He had great success, because the LORD was with him.”
That’s not to say education or training or hard work isn’t important, but those things are never to be the object of our trust. We cannot claim credit for anything. Our success comes from Him alone. Our responsibility is to trust and obey and then leave the results to Him.
