Three Words Jesus Never Said

You can correct me if I’m wrong, but to the best of knowledge, none of the gospels actually record Jesus saying, “I love you” to anyone. I found that really interesting.

Jesus did say: My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:12-13)

And the apostle Paul said, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” (Ephesians 5:25)

If my wife, Robyn, never again told me she loved me, I would still have no reason to doubt her love, because her actions scream “I love you!” everyday.

Love as I have loved you.

No greater love than laying your life down for your friends.

Love as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her.

Because God is love, everything He does is an expression of His perfect love for us. If you are struggling with believing that God loves you, take some time to reflect on what He did for you on the cross. Don’t let it become cliche. Don’t let it become so familiar that it loses it’s power and majesty. Think about it…God Himself was mocked, beaten, whipped and crucified for you.

God did that.

For you.

Because He loves you with a love beyond comprehension.
