DNA and Intelligent Design

I know for some people, believing in God is a leap of faith. They want “proof” of his existence. They want to see scientific evidence.

For me, I simply don’t have enough faith to believe God doesn’t exist. If I had no other evidence than DNA, it would be enough for me to believe there is an eternal God behind creation. Richard Dawkins, a well-respected atheist, admits:

“[T]here is enough information capacity in a single human cell to store the Encyclopaedia Britannica, all 30 volumes of it, three or four times over.” [The Blind Watchmaker]

To believe God doesn’t exist, you must believe super-intelligence somehow found its way into living cells–all 30 volumes times four.

Do I have an explanation for God’s existence? No. I cannot explain how anyone can have no beginning. But the physical evidence (DNA and the rest of this magnificent universe) pointing to an Intelligent Designer is overwhelming to me.

So we’re really faced with two choices:

Everything that exists came from nothing and is purely accidental.

Or everything that exists came from a Creator and has purpose.

What’s ironic to me is those who believe God doesn’t exist do believe the entire universe–70 billion billion stars and the super-intelligence we call DNA–somehow came from nothing at all. Which if true, would be a miracle.
