The Very Heart of God

What could you do today to draw near to the heart of God?

Read your Bible? Yeah, that’s a good one.

Listen to worship music? That would be good, too.

Spend an hour in prayer? Hard to argue with that one.

Here’s another thought…

1 John 4:16 says, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”

And John 13:34-35 says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Love isn’t just something God does. Love is His very identity.

When we love one another, we’re identifying ourselves with the very heart of God. Can’t draw much closer than that, huh?

Who needs your love today?

Who needs to know that you deeply love and accept them just the way they are?

Who needs to know you believe in them?

Who needs you to affirm their hopes and dreams?

Who needs to know you will never leave them nor forsake them?

Who needs to know you have forgiven them?

Is it your spouse? Your ex-spouse? Your child? Your parent? Your co-worker? Your neighbor? The homeless person you pass on the way to work? The check-out clerk?

Who is it?

Don’t wait. Love them today.

You’ll never be closer to the heart of God.
